About Adam Bonnar

It all started on a mini golf course in Auckland during the school holidays.

As a kid from Dargaville, Northland, Adam spent his holidays with his grandparents — and it was his grandpa, a casual golfer, who first put a club in his hands. What began as a bit of holiday fun quickly turned into something more. Adam fell in love with the game, went on to compete as an amateur golfer, and never really looked back.

The shift from playing to coaching came naturally. During his PGA of New Zealand training, Adam's mentor sent him to a club fitting and coaching conference in Australia — and it was a revelation. He came home fired up, with a clearer sense of what great coaching could look like and what it could do for people. More than the technical side, it was simple: Adam loves seeing people happy, and he wanted to share what golf had given him.

He's been doing exactly that since 2003.

A Coaching Philosophy Built Around You

Over more than two decades — at Northland Golf Club, Waipu Golf Club, Ellerslie Golf Warehouse, Sweet Spot, Takapuna Golf Course, and now GOLFixx and Pupuke Golf Club— Adam has developed a coaching style that puts the learner at the centre.

His first job in any lesson isn't to talk — it's to listen. Adam takes time to understand where you're at, what you're hoping to achieve, and how you learn best. From there, he draws on a coaching model (rather than straight instruction), blending sports psychology with a genuine curiosity about what makes each person tick.

The difference matters. Instruction tells you what to do. Coaching gives you the tools to understand your own game — so that you keep improving on the course, not just in lessons.

Wide range of services, experiences and products to golfers of varying ages, abilities and motives for wanting to learn, play or compete in the game of golf.

What Golf Really Offers

Adam believes golf is one of life's great gifts. It keeps you physically active, challenges you mentally and emotionally, rewards forward planning, and has a remarkable way of opening doors — to friendships, opportunities, and experiences you'd never expect. And one of the best things about it? You can make it as serious or as relaxed as you like.

He's especially passionate about introducing kids to the game. Seeing a young person discover what golf can do for their confidence, their focus, and their social world — that never gets old.

A Bit More About Adam

When he's not on the range, Adam is kept busy by his wife, his son Emerson (who is already learning golf alongside him, naturally), and the newest addition to the family, baby Lachie.

He's warm, enthusiastic, and genuinely invested in the people he works with. Whether you're a nervous first-timer, a returning golfer shaking off some rust, or a junior just discovering the game — Adam will meet you exactly where you are.
